Jane Hannon, the owner of Things with a Difference has been a long time member of the Armidale business community. You may remember Jane from Armidale Kids, which was where all of the well-dressed local kids shopped. Jane also worked at Mountview Pharmacy where she developed a beautiful giftware section. Before Jane moved to Armidale she had some very valuable experience in the retail industry. Jane worked at Freedom Furniture in Canberra where she trained to be a manager. Whilst working there she saw how Freedom Furniture grew from humble beginnings into a large retail company.
When Jane is not working at Things with a Difference she enjoys spending time with her husband Greg Hannon who is now mainly retired from his pharmacy. Greg does continue to do some locum work though. Jane loves gardening and can often be found visiting Liv at Cedar Nursery and Design where she purchases everything she needs for her garden. She loves nothing more than driving her ride on lawn mower with her headphones on whilst singing up a storm. No doubt the cows that Jane has on her farm also enjoy her serenading them!
Jane and Greg are also lucky enough to own a tin shed at Laurence on the mighty Clarence. This rustic property allows them to savour the simple things in life whilst enjoying the beautiful beaches and rivers in the Yamba area. Jane and Greg love travelling and try and travel to a different destination every few years. Jane also loves spending time with her family, especially the five kids that she and Greg have between them.
Jane and Greg have a close group of friends that they have dinner parties with periodically. Interestingly though these dinner parties are a bit different from some others as it is the men who do all of the cooking and cleaning up. All of the ladies enjoy getting dressed up and then being waited on all night by the men in their lives. We think this is an idea that just might catch on!
Jenny Haydon and Pam Baldwin also work at Things with a Difference. Many of you will remember Jenny from Hanna’s Department Store, where she was employed for 22 years. Jenny notes that moving to Things with a Difference was a perfect transition from ladies wear in Hanna’s Department Store as she is still able to interact with the many customers that she has come to know whilst working in retail in Armidale. Jenny loves the goods that are sold in the shop which she describes as both being of good quality and in some cases a little bit quirky. Pam Baldwin, who also works at Things with a Difference has a passion for giftware and she particularly likes helping her customers find a perfect gift for their loved ones.
