The Armidale Golf Club is a not for profit organisation and is run by a Board of Directors. The Board are elected by members of the Golf Club. In essence the owners of the Armidale Golf Club are really the many members of the club and the local community!
Perhaps the most prominent face of the Armidale Golf Club is Tim Allerton who is the General Manager of the club. Tim moved to Armidale approximately 6 years ago from Sydney where he had a corporate job with Coca Cola Amatil. Tim notes that the best thing about living in Armidale is the slower pace of life and the fact that the local people are so genuine. Whilst growing up, Tim spent most of his school holidays on his family’s farm, which he just loved. Golf is Tim’s main interest and he describes himself as a ‘golf nut.’ Instead of being born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Tim and his family were born with golf sticks in their hands!
Tim is extremely confident about the future of Armidale and surrounds and believes that the recent development projects that have been announced will lead to Armidale being the focal point for the New England! When Tim isn’t working he may be found at one of his favourite local restaurants or perhaps wondering the aisles of his favourite shop which is Richardson’s Hardware!
The Armidale Golf Club is very community focused and supports its members and guests and the local community in a variety of ways. An example of this is the taxi subsidisation program which helps members and guests pay for a taxi home after a visit to the Golf Club! This generous scheme allows patrons to enjoy a few drinks with their mates without worrying about how they are going to get home safely.
