Armidale Ultrasound is your brand new dedicated diagnostic ultrasound service, and they are aiming to make receiving diagnostic ultrasounds more affordable with the inclusion of PayRight ! At Armidale Ultrasound you can scan now, and pay later with PayRight payment plans, making it easier and more affordable than ever to have your ultrasound. Choose to pay weekly, fortnightly or monthly from 3-12 months ! (This is also available for 3D / 4D ultrasound appointments).

Armidale Ultrasound is located in Armidale at 210 b Rusden street, directly opposite the Rusden Street Medical Centre and next to the pathology centre. They are accessible and have a family orientated atmosphere, making it easier for our community and their families to receive their diagnostic ultrasounds.

Armidale Ultrasound care about our community’s ultrasound needs. Providing extended opening hours including after hours and weekend availability, understanding that not everyone in our community works a 9-5 job, and needs a service that can meet their diagnostic ultrasound needs at a time that’s convenient for them. They are child friendly and have a kids corner set up to make your waiting time easier in our comfortable reception area. They provide all general ultrasound including but not limited to: leg arteries with ABI’s, CVI’s, incontinence screening and Nuchal screen with pre-eclampsia risk. We provide all diagnostic obstetric ultrasounds and all patients who receive their nuchal (12 week) and morphology scan with us will receive a FREE 15 minute 3D / 4D bonding scan with our in house 3D / 4D ultrasound service 3D Baby Bonding.

What is ultrasound

An ultrasound scan uses high-frequency sound waves to make an image of persons internal body structures. Highly trained sonographers use their complex machines to study many interesting things such as a developing baby, a persons abdominal or pelvic organs, muscles, tendons and even their hearts and blood vessels.

A sonographer directs high-frequency sound waves from a small hand held probe at the internal body structures being examined. The sound waves are then reflected and are recorded to create an image that can be seen on the monitor. The high frequency of the sound means you cannot hear it - which is why it is called ultrasound.

An ultrasound is usually non-invasive and completed outside of the body, this is typical for joints, abdominal ultrasound etc. Sometimes an ultrasound probe will need to be inserted into a persons vagina (for obstetric or pelvic examinations) or rectum (for prostate examinations).
